MOURINHO WANTS TO STAY UP TO 15 YEARS AT OLD TRAFFORD.

Jose Mourinho says he wants to stay for up to 15 years at Manchester United.

Mourinho, who has managed Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid, never stayed in club for more than three years. The Portuguese is however, entering his second season at United and sees himself staying at Old Trafford for many more years to come.

Mourinho is adamant he has found the club where he can remain for the rest of his managerial career.

"I'm ready for this," said Mourinho. "I'm ready for the next 15, I would say. Here? Yes, why not?

"I have to admit that it's very difficult, because of the pressure around our jobs, everybody putting pressure on managers and things that people say - that we have to win, but in reality only one can win and every year it's getting more difficult.

"But what I try to do in the club is show that my work goes further than the football results, that it goes to areas that people don't think of as a manager's job.

"In my vision, my job is much more than what I do on the pitch and the results that my team gets at the weekend.

"This club, for so many years, was Sir Alex. People got used to it; people understood the great consequences of that stability.

"After David [Moyes] and Mr Louis] Van Gaal, I come to my second year and hopefully I can stay and give that stability that the club wants.

I will try, but again, I will have to try to deserve that, but that's what I try every day that I work."

Despite his desire to stay at United long-term, Mourinho, sacked in his second spell at Chelsea just six months after winning the Premier League title, knows that once results become unfavourable, sack becomes inevitable.

"You have huge success in one year, the next year you don't have success and you're out," said Mourinho.

"It happened to me at Chelsea, it happened to Ranieri at Leicester, it will happen to many others.
"Nowadays, people look much more on the short-term.

"I think Sir Alex's career is unique. I don't think it is possible to emulate. Nobody is going to be in the same club for so many years, be in the same league for so many years.

“I think Wenger will be the last with a similar story in terms of staying at a club for so many years, but I what I try to do in modern football nowadays is to try to deserve to stay in the club, because in this moment, it's about success.

"You have success, you stay in the club. You don't have success, you don't stay."

Despite the precarious nature of modern football management, none of the Premier League's top seven teams from last season have changed bosses, with Antonio Conte, Mauricio Pochettino, Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp, Wenger, Mourinho and Ronald Koeman all still in their respective jobs.

"Where are these clubs going to get better managers than us?" Mourinho said. "It is not easy, with respect to others.

"There are other managers with quality, but where can you get more experience, curriculum, know-how of how to make the club better?"

"It is normal that we all stay and I think it is important especially for the stability of the teams," said Mourinho. "I think it's important that managers stay for more than a season."

LIVERPOOL AGREES TO SIGN HULL CITY'S ANDY ROBERTSON

Liverpool have agreed a £10m move for Hull defender Andy Robertson.
Scotland international Robertson will undergo a medical at the Reds on Thursday, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.

The left-back will not fly to Hong Kong, where the squad are currently on their pre-season tour, but will meet up with his new teammates in Germany next week.

The Reds will splash £8m up front before paying an extra £2m in add-ons.
Robertson will be Jurgen Klopp's third summer signing after already signing Mohamed Salah and Dominic Solanke.

Robertson made 115 appearances for Hull following his £3million move from Dundee United in 2014.

FULL TIME AT SHANGHAI... ARSENAL v BAYERN MUNICH.

Arsenal 1-1 Bayern Munich
Iwobi 90+.
Lewandowski 9'.

(Gunners won 3-2 on penalties).

Arsenal get the points from this International Champions Cup match.
Wenger will be proud of his team dug in to grind out a result there, even if large swathes of the performance were pretty unimpressive.

New signing, Alexandre Lacazette and midfielder Mesut Ozil missed glorious chances in the game.

Frank Ribery pulled the strings for the German side, but Alex Iwobi's and Peter Cech’s performances were the highlights for Arsenal.

LUKAKU BEWARE OF PRESSURE! CARRICK WARNS.

Michael Carrick has warned Romelu Lukaku of the different pressures that come from playing for Manchester United as oppose to Everton.

Lukaku completed his £75million move from Goodison Park last week and played alongside his new team-mates for the first time in the 5-2 pre-season win over LA Galaxy.

Carrick completed a similar switch in 2006 when he moved from Tottenham to United - and he says Lukaku will notice big changes.

"The jump is massive," Carrick said.
"I found that myself coming from Tottenham. But having Premier League experience is a massive bonus.

He'll know how things work week to week. It's just about dealing with the pressure.

"It's early days. It's one week's training and 45 minutes against Galaxy so you can't come to any conclusions.

"We know what he is all about, there are no surprises. We all know exactly what he brings and that is why he is here.

"He is not going to change his game because he has come here.

"He does what he does best and obviously he's been brought here to score goals. I am pretty certain he will do that this season."

United's season begins with a UEFA Super Cup tie against Real Madrid on August 8.

Carrick believes that United have what it takes to be successful this season.

"We have to challenge the best and be the best," Carrick said.
"It has to be that philosophy at this club no matter what happens, this season is no different.

"We finished last season with a trophy. We've got a good feeling going into this one.
"We've got the Super Cup coming up pretty quick, so we've got to be focused on that really

LUKE SHAW DECLARES! 'THIS IS MY SEASON'.

Luke Shaw has vowed to overcome the nightmare start to his Manchester United career and prove his enduring worth to Jose Mourinho.

Shaw has suffered a very poor first three seasons at United following his £27million move from Southampton back in 2014.

Fitness issues and a broken leg that virtually ruled him out of his entire second season at United have all blighted Shaw's time at Old Trafford.

Shaw is unlikely to be fit for the start of the season but the 22 year old is adamant he has what it takes to succeed at United and show he has a long-term future at Old Trafford.

“I feel that this is my season to prove myself and I’m feeling in good shape,” said Shaw.

“I want to show everyone that I believe in myself and show the manager that.

“I’m working hard and I’ve been doing rehab each day. It's been coming along really good.

“I’ve been running on a treadmill and doing my leg weights and making sure my foot is strong.

“I’ve also been doing a lot of cardiovascular work to keep me in good shape. I’m feeling good.

“The sooner I’m back the better and hopefully it is soon because I want to get out there playing.”

“I’m in a positive frame of mind and don’t want talk too much about the past, but I do think that I’ve been unlucky with injuries.
“My leg and now this. It was unlucky. I want to put them in the past.”

“At first I thought we weren’t going on tour, but deep down I think it's very important for us to come on tour,” said Shaw.

“All of the lads are away and we're with them. It's bonding for everyone to be around. I'm so glad I'm here. I'm enjoying it a lot, although I'm not playing.

“It's a really good place to be and it's a really good squad to be around. It is buzzing at the moment. This is just the start.”

Shaw, speaking to The National after United's 5-2 win over LA Galaxy in the opening game of their US tour, revealed how supportive Mourinho has been.

“When me and Ash [Ashley Young] tend to finish our sessions, we go over to see what they are doing and we see him [Mourinho],” said Shaw.

“He asks how I am, how it is going and he keeps on top of how we are and to see how far along we are.”

“I keep myself motivated in different ways. The fans especially keep me motivated.

“They're always sending good messages to me on social media. The players in the dressing room, too.

“Without them it would be very difficult but they're all superb. They're a great bunch of lads.”

WAYNE ROONEY'S ADVICE TO ROMELU LUKAKU.

As the club's all-time record goalscorer and winner of just about every trophy possible, Rooney's United legacy and status as a Red Devils hero should be assured.

Asked to offer some advice to Romelu Lukaku - the £75million man who has essentially swapped clubs with the former England skipper - had these words;

“Playing for Manchester United is a test of character, as well as your ability.

You have got to be strong enough mentally to accept the challenge because United is a football club that demands success.

“Romelu has to be strong enough to take up that challenge. If he does that, then, with the ability he has got, he will be a success.

But if he doesn’t face the challenge, if he worries about things, then it will be more difficult for him.

“There are standards that you have to keep when you are at Manchester United," Rooney said.

“That came from the manager Sir Alex Ferguson when I went to United and it was then passed down through the dressing room by the likes of Giggsy, Gary Neville and Scholesy.

“Over the last few years, it was down to me and Michael Carrick to keep the new players maintaining those standards.

“That became more difficult over the last few years, with some of the players who joined the club.

There are traditions at United that have to be maintained. It’s become harder, but that’s not my problem any more. I’m just ecstatic to be back at Everton.”

SANCHEZ WANTS TO QUIT ARSENAL IN OTHER TO WIN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE.

Alexis Sanchez has hinted he wants to leave Arsenal this summer.

The Chilean forward insists he is desperate to play Champions League football in the coming season.

Arsene Wenger's side failed to qualify for Europe's premier competition - after finishing fifth behind Liverpool in the Premier League.

And the failure to reach the top four could cost the north London club their top star.

Sanchez only has a year left on his current Gunners deal - with negotiations yet to kick off over a new deal.

Sanchez told Radio Sport Chile: "I want to play in the Champions League. The decision isn't down to me, I need to wait for Arsenal."

"I've made my decision, now I wait for Arsenal's reply. The idea is to play and win the Champions League.

"I've dreamt about it since I was a kid."

The star man is currently away from the rest of the Gunners squad in Australia - after being given extra time off this summer due to his Confederations Cup commitments with Chile.

LUKAKU AND RASHFORD CAN PLAY TOGETHER INSISTS MOURINHO.

Mourinho is suggesting Lukaku and Rashford could form a strike partnership, the like of which has not been seen at Old Trafford since Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole.

Lukaku was bought from Everton to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who was released by United after suffering a serious cruciate ligament knee injury last season.

But Mourinho believes Lukaku and England striker Rashford can play effectively alongside each other, rather than the former leading the line alone, and plans to try them out together on the remainder of the tour.

Rashford scored twice in his 45-minute outing, while Lukaku’s United debut was less memorable, the striker missing a sitter minutes after coming on.

“Today Marcus was in a different team than Lukaku,” said Mourinho. “We’ll also try them both in the same team, which I think can also work.

“Lukaku is more of a target man with his back to opponents. He’s a point of attack to everyone, he’s really fast and a good thing for me today was that he’s a team player.

He wasn’t worried about himself, he was worried about the improvement of the team.”

Rashford, who scored eight goals in 18 appearances in his first season and 11 in 53 games last term, has hit the ground running in pre-season and looks determined to prove a point to Mourinho ahead of the new campaign.

The 19-year-old has bulked up over the summer and made himself more physically imposing to opponents, although not, Mourinho claimed, at the expense of his most formidable asset – his pace.

“It’s just a natural evolution of a kid and an accumulation of minutes on a pitch,” said Mourinho.

“Your body changes when you’re a young kid. He’s already taller than when I arrived 13 months ago - he’s three centimetres taller.

“He’s put some muscle, but without any kind of specific work, because his speed is his most important quality.

“Last season in this period, everyone was saying it would be difficult for me to play him. But he was one of the players with the most appearances last season.

“He played the important matches in the Europa League, which is like a pre-Champions League, and he’s learning a lot.
“He’s a great pro, he has great attitude.

"Last season he wasn’t scoring goals and was missing a lot of chances, which was not a drama because that’s part of the evolution.

We know he’s going to score more goals than last season.”

IMPOSSIBLE! MANCHESTER UNITED WILL NOT SIGN RONALDO.

Mourinho has had his say on the idea of a Ronaldo's return to Old Trafford, reports The Mirror Sport.

The Portuguese, watched his Manchester United open their US tour with a win – then admitted it was “mission impossible” to sign Cristiano Ronaldo.

Real Madrid star Ronaldo has been linked with a return to former club United after being investigated for alleged tax evasion in Spain and making clear his anger over the issue.

But after watching United sweep aside LA Galaxy 5-2 at the StubHub Center in Los Angeles, Mourinho killed off any hope of an emotional Old Trafford return for Ronaldo.

“We have never thought about it, because he's such an important player for his club, of great economic power, where we have not been able to find for whatever reason that could have made us think that Ronaldo could leave,” said Mourinho.

“I'm not a defender of my club once you waste time on players who are mission impossible.”

Mourinho also dismissed United signing Ronaldo's Real team-mate Alvaro Morata, after negotiations between the two clubs reached an impasse over their respective valuations.

United valued Morata at £65m, Real wanted £79m. United called off their pursuit of Morata once they had secured Romelu Lukaku from Everton for £75m, with Mourinho admitting the Morata deal was unlikely to be resurrected.

“It's a question for Florentino [Perez, Real President],” said Mourinho. “What I said today is what I say today. Clubs put price tags on players.

“He belongs to Madrid. Madrid has decided and we have not come to an agreement. It's simple. It's a shame.

“He's a player who made it to the first team with me [at Real]. We have a special liking for him, he's someone special.

I enjoyed watching his evolution at Juventus and Madrid. It's like that, but I don’t think he can end with us.”
Marcus Rashford bagged a double, with further goals from Marouane Fellaini, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Anthony Martial ensuring a comfortable win for United, who conceded two late goals after Mourinho changed his entire team at the break.

United played with three at the back, a departure from their usual back-four, with Mourinho happy with the way his players adjusted to the new formation, which will be used next season if they need to adapt to certain opponents.

“We trained five days,” said Mourinho. “In these five days we trained two days in relation to this system.

“The improvements are in relation to four hours of work, so I couldn't expect much better. It's something we have to keep working on, in case during the season we decide to play three at the back.

“We did it twice against Rostov last season and maybe we want to do it more times.”

Rashford, who looked sharp in his 45-minute outing, has bulked up over the summer and looks far more physically imposing for defenders to face.

“It's just the natural evolution of a kid,” said Mourinho. “You change your body when you're a young kid - he's already taller than when I arrived 13 months ago.

“He's three centimetres taller and he put some muscle on, but without any kind of specific work, because his speed is his most important quality.

“Last season in this period everyone was saying it would be difficult for me to play him, but he was one of the top players in terms of appearances for the team.

“Last season he wasn't scoring goals and missing a lot of chances, which was not a drama, because that's part of the evolution. We know he's going to score more goals than last season.”

Mourinho also said United have no vice-captain, having handed the captain's armband to Michael Carrick following Wayne Rooney's return to Everton.

“We don't have a vice-captain, a captain is enough,” said Mourinho.

FULL TRANSCRIPT OF MOURINHO'S PRESS CONFERENCE ALONGSIDE LINGARD, AHEAD OF LA GALAXY CLASH. .

LINGARD, ON HIS ROLE
“I think everyone plays their part in the team, you have to try and be involved in as many goals as possible. I’m working on it.

“I’m 24 now and I’ve been around a very long time, there is a lot of responsibility playing for best club in the world.”

LINGARD, ON NEW PLAYERS.
“Yeah they’ve settled very well, it’s an easy squad to integrate with, Romelu and Paul are very close.

“Romelu has settled in well, we know what he do with the goals he scores. If he can bring that here it would be a big help.

“Romelu is very strong and physical and I think he will cause defenders problems this season, we’ve seen it in training.”

MOURINHO, ON MORATA.
“I don’t like to speak about players who aren’t ours, because Morata is not our player.

I am nobody to speak about players from Real Madrid.
“Yes, we have had interest, that is obvious and it’s public.

We have not come to an economic agreement, that is obvious as well.
“But it’s a Real Madrid’s right to ask for their players the amount of money that they want.

We do not determine what the price is of a player of Real Madrid, Real Madrid do that. And we didn’t arrive at an agreement with Real Madrid.

“I do not criticise Madrid and I am not going to criticise my board because my board has made the offer, and they have tried to reach an agreement during a time, and they didn’t come to an agreement. It’s simple.”

MOURINHO, ON THE PRE-SEASON.
“Pre-season is a mixture of factors, ingredients, if you stay in Manchester the facilities are good, we are at home but commercially is not good and that is another really important fact for the players to be together 24 hours for two and a half weeks and welcome to the new people, try to make them adapt as soon as possible.

“Here we have everything, the facilities are very good, the organisation is very good, it’s not chaotic, still since 2004 I’m searching for the first mistake, it never arrives, it’s amazing, the players like to come to here, by the social point of view it’s good because this country gives us soccer people freedom, they can walk outside, sit some place and have a drink together, they can go shopping and have a little social life.

MOURINHO, ON THEIR OPPONENTS.
“Opponents are good because American teams are in the middle of their competition, so it’s good to have tired people against fresh people, they will play at a higher speed and intensity plus altitude in Salt Lake City is a different factor for us and then we train against some of the best clubs in the world, against some of the best players in the world and that’s good for us going back into the Champions League, a diff reality to the Europa League, which is very difficult to win but in the Champions League we are going to find the four or five best teams in the world and in Manchester City, Real Madrid and Barcelona we are going to get that.”

MOURINHO ON HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH LUKAKU.
“I didn’t negotiate, it was Mr Woodward who negotiated with Romelu, his agent and the Everton board, the only thing I did was to call him when the situation was almost there just to guarantee him that he would be an important player in my team.

“It’s quite a great experience the fact we worked together already for a few months and during the time when I was at Chelsea and when he was at Everton our relationship was always very close despite it not working well for us together.

“He’s intelligent, he’s polite, we kept the contact, the feeling and now we are back together in different moments and I have no doubts it is going to work.”

“Hopefully goals, he’s the kind of player that everybody knows he’s a striker so we’re not speaking about a multi functional player or create doubts about positions on the pitch, he’s a strier and normally strikers score goals.

“The reason why he was so important and difficult to get is what he did in the Premier League because obviously there are other good strikers in football but the Premier League is a very specific habitat, a different habitat, normally they need some time to adapt and Lukaku plays in Premier League for the last four or five seasons.

“So now he comes to a club with a different responsibility than Everton or WBA, and I think he comes in the right moment because he is young but still has years of experience with the Premier League and Belgian national team, it’s his first Champions League competition which was his main motivation so the fact we qualified also played an important role.”

MOURINHO ON THEIR RIVALS IN THE LEAGUE.
“Every club in the Premier League is powerful, has money to buy, to refuse to sell, and people don’t focus on the power to keep the players and refuse to sell.

“I think the market is so strange, the prices are absolutely out of context, so the clubs with not the power to sell, refuse to sell, are one step ahead and there are many clubs in the Premier League who refuse to sell their best players and that is fantastic and makes the competition so hard.

“Every match is a difficult match, in every match you have the risk to lose and that’s why the Premier League is the Premier League.”

MOURINHO, ON TITLE CHALLENGERS.
“First of all I think after the champion, Chelsea, I think Manchester United is the second club that we can say most successful last season and Arsenal the third, for me that’s absolutely clear, to finish second, third or fourth is like being... because there is only one winner.

“Arsenal won a competition, we won two-and-a-half, I like to say, so the other clubs won nothing so they have to improve.”

MOURINHO, ON NEMANJA MATIC.
“I can’t say any word about a player who is a Chelsea player, it’s the same with Morata, we have to respect the player, the club, the owner, the manager.

“I don’t want to be disrespectful, we don’t have our door closed, we are not happy with just Lukaku and Lindelof, we need more, we wanted four, so I would say 50% of the job is done but I don’t want to say that because everything is so difficult.
MOURINHO, ON POSSIBLE ADDITIONS.
“I would not like to be in Ed Woodward’s position negotiating because everything is really difficult, so maybe we don’t get two, we get one but we need one more to give us more options.

“We have players that belong to the squad but cannot play for next few months, Rojo, Ashley Young, Luke Shaw, if Zlatan stays.

“We need two more players I would say, at least one but I don’t want to say Matic or any other name because I don’t think it’s correct.”
MOURINHO ON ZLATAN.
“Possible, it’s open (re-signing Zlatan). Of course we wanted to be honest and open and let everything for him to make the decision.

“At the same time let’s make a decision that makes us all happy and if that is for him to stay and for us to wait, let’s say in December maybe, because I don’t think before December he can get back to competitive football but why not wait for a player who gave us so much, we are changing ideas and it’s with Mr Woodward and Zlatan’s agent but the final decision is the best for the player.”

MARTIAL IS AS GOOD AS MBAPPE INSISTS A FORMER UNITED STAR.

Anthony Martial has been backed to rediscover his best form and prove he is as good as £100million-rated Kylian Mbappe, writes David McDonnell in Los Angeles for The Mirror.

Striker Martial enjoyed a sparkling debut campaign, plundering 17 goals following his £36m move from Monaco to Manchester United in August 2015.

But the France striker’s form suffered last season and his managed only eight goals.

United boss Jose Mourinho publicly criticised the forward’s perceived lack of focus with the 21-year-old linked with a move away from Old Trafford.

But former United defender and compatriot Mikael Silvestre believes Martial will prove his value and claimed he can perform at the same level as Monaco  Wonderkid, Mbappe.

“When you reach that level and you then have a difficult time, you bounce back, because you’re a competitor,” said Silvestre.

“Anthony has reached the level of Manchester United and the French national team, so I think he will improve his game to perform at least at the same level as the first season.

“The turning point for me was the Euros in France. He was substituted in one game, he’d had a difficult first half, and after that he didn’t play any more.

Sometimes, when you take a slap to the back of the head, it’s difficult to bounce back, and all season he was trying to get back to his best.

“But his character is a good one, so I think he’ll answer the critics and do better.”

Asked if Martial was at the same level as Mbappe, Silvestre said: “Definitely. Every time he touches the ball, even out here in training, you can sense the danger.

“Defenders... I wouldn’t say they’re afraid, but you don’t dive into a challenge when you’re facing Anthony, because he can go left or right, and beat you with speed.”

Silvestre also suggested Martial was intimidated by Zlatan Ibrahimovic and has had that burden lifted now the veteran striker – who was released after suffering a serious injury – is no longer around.

“Zlatan’s aura was big, his character, his ego, and what he was spreading around him was sometimes intimidating for the younger players,” said Silvestre.

“But also it gives you an example to follow, so it was good to have him around.”

Mourinho employed his familiar tough love approach with Martial, publicly criticising the winger.

Silvestre is convinced Mourinho’s approach worked, claiming Martial was more focused and produced a better work ethic in the wake of his manager’s public rebukes.

“I don’t know him well enough to say if it’s more love or a tougher style that he needs, but young players.

I was the same, need to be told the truth, so you work harder the next day,” said Silvestre.

“But I think it did [work]. He worked harder, he tried to stay focused on the pitch for 90 minutes.

“There was also talk about him leaving the club, but he came out and said ‘I’m not going anywhere, I’m going to try to impose myself here’. That shows the character and the type of person he is, so I’m hopeful for next season.”

Silvestre also believes United’s world-record £89m signing Paul Pogba will become an even more influential figure in midfield next season.

“He came after a long season for Juventus, then he played at the Euros with France and got injured, so he had to catch up with the rest of the squad,” said Silvestre. “When he signed, the price tag was extra pressure on him, so I think he’s responded well.

“Obviously there’s room for improvement, because we haven’t seen him have his best season.

But I’m hopeful that on the back of a good rest and full preparation with the rest of the squad, he’ll have a better season.”

KYLE WALKER JOINS MANCHESTER CITY FROM TOTTENHAM.

Manchester City have completed the signing of Kyle Walker from Tottenham for £45m on a five-year deal. The fee could rise to as high as £54m.

The England defender has signed a long-term deal at the Etihad Stadium until 2022.

WHY DANI ALVES SNUBBED MANCHESTER CITY FOR PSG.

French giants, Paris Saint-germain announced that Brazilian right-back Dani Alves have joined them.

The veteran defender who was believed to be heading to the Etihad Stadium to team up with former Boss, Pep Guardiola, has revealed why he opted to join PSG.

"There's a very interesting project in Paris," said Alves.
"I have friends here, I'm a man who loves challenges.

"If Pep Guardiola and Manchester City feel hurt, I am sorry. But I have come here to be a champion.

"I've had the pleasure of winning the Champions League three times and I want to bring my experience here.

"The President had a great power of persuasion. I like to make history. We can write it together here.

"The work that the club has been doing over the past several years is very encouraging. It's an ambitious team."

Dani Alves snubbed Manchester City for Paris Saint Germain to win more silverware.

Alves will be earning £230,000 every week in France.

ADNAN JANUZAJ JOINS REAL SOCIEDAD FROM MANCHESTER UNITED.

Manchester United revealed that the 22 year old Adnan Januzaj has left Old Trafford for Real Sociedad.

The Belgian has been reportedly signed for a fee that could rise to £9.8m, and United inserted a buy-back clause in the deal.

"Adnan Januzaj has completed a transfer from Manchester United to Real Sociedad," a statement on United's website read.
"The Academy graduate and Belgium international has signed with the side who finished sixth in La Liga last season, bringing an end to a Reds career that consisted of 66 senior appearances and five goals.

"Januzaj made his United debut in the FA Community Shield win over Wigan Athletic in August 2013 and established himself as an excellent prospect that season, famously scoring a brace at Sunderland under the management of David Moyes - who is coincidentally a former boss of Real Sociedad.
"Opportunities proved hard to come by during Louis van Gaal's first season at Old Trafford and that led to a loan spell at Borussia Dortmund in 2015/16, the Dutchman's second campaign with United.
"Jose Mourinho allowed Adnan to spend last season on loan at Sunderland and now the 22-year-old forward has taken the tough decision to leave United and make the move San Sebastian.
"Everybody at Manchester United wishes Adnan well for the next chapter of his career."

CHELSEA SET TO SIGN REAL MADRID'S DANILO.

Chelsea have won the race for £28million Real Madrid right-back Danilo, reports The Mirror Sport.

The Premier League champions are set to step up their spending after making a slow start in the transfer market.

Antonio Conte — beaten to the signature of Romelu Lukaku by Manchester United — has seen off Juventus for 25-year-old Danilo to strengthen his defence.

Chelsea hope to be able to complete the deal before Conte takes his squad out to the Far East for pre-season training next week.

He is also keen to rub salt into the wound for the Italian champions by pinching Danilo’s Brazilian compatriot Alex Sandro.

Juventus are determined to keep the Blues at arm’s length by raising the asking price — which now stands at £70million — for the 26-year-old.

Sandro, however, has so far indicated he wants to move to Stamford Bridge and Chelsea are hopeful they will be able to reunite him with Danilo, his former Porto team-mate.

They are also set on blocking any move from Barcelona to sign versatile defender Cesar Azpilicueta.

The 27-year-old is able to play on either flank and on the right of a three at the back.

Conte, however, wants to maintain his squad’s strength in depth with a title challenge as well as a Champions League campaign ahead.

MESUT OZIL WANTS TO STAY AT ARSENAL, BUT CAN'T SPEAK FOR SANCHEZ.

Mesut Ozil has dropped his clearest hint that he wants to stay at Arsenal.

Germany midfielder Ozil has been locked in a contract stalemate with the Gunners, and have only 12 months left on his current deal.

But Ozil insists it is still his “preference” to stay at with the North London Club.

Ozil said: “It is definitely my preference to stay, it is such a great club and I have always said that I feel very good at Arsenal.

“Once everyone is back in London we will sit down and discuss about the future.

For now the most important thing is our pre-season and getting through the tour, training and getting fitness.

When I’m back in London, we will sit down and discuss.”

Ozil insists he has not spoken to Sanchez who is in a similar contract situation with him.

Ozil added: “I was on vacation and did not think about anyone else. I tried to clear my mind for myself.

Obviously the player (Sanchez) has to think about his own future and that will be his own decision. It is something everyone has to respect.”

CHELSEA LEGEND TELLS THE BLUES THE STRIKER TO SIGN, HAVING MISSED OUT ON LUKAKU.

Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola doesn't think his former club should target Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata in the summer transfer window.

Instead, the Italian believes Antonio Conte should move for Andrea Belotti, claiming the Torino front man would be a better fit to his Blues system.

Speaking to talkSPORT on Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, Zola explained that despite this recent link, he doesn't believe his former side should make a move for Morata.

"To be honest, I was thinking Chelsea should go for Andrea Belotti in Italy," said the former Watford and Birmingham City boss.

"I thought that considering the type of qualities Costa has, that Belotti was the perfect fit.

"Morata is a little bit different, he's more of a finesse player. He hasn't got the presence of a player like Costa in the box. He's a different player, he brings other qualities.

"Costa was very influential last season, he's a type of player who fits with the style of football at Chelsea, and that [finding a like-for-like replacement] will be the key for Chelsea."

OLIVIER GIROUD HINTS AT ARSENAL EXIT.

Olivier Giroud has admitted he is considering quitting Arsenal this summer.

Giroud, 30, could leave the Emirates as he fears the arrival of £52m record signing Alexandre Lacazette has put his Arsenal future in doubt.

Giroud knows he must play regularly this season or risk losing his place in the France squad for next summer’s World Cup.

Giroud, talking at the club’s launch of their new third choice kit in Sydney, said: “It (leaving) is an option to be honest with you.
“I’m here in pre-season, I wanted to travel.

Some people asked me if I am going to travel or not and of course, I am Arsenal player and for the moment I am here so I just want to prepare well for the season and we will see later.

“But it is true that I really enjoyed my five years with Arsenal. I’m still an Arsenal player for the moment so I try to be professional.

No matter what happens, I did my job on the pitch.
“It’s been five years that I’ve been here.

It could be my sixth one. I had an amazing welcome from the fans and from the club and it has been five amazing years for me.

“I won’t forget it, no matter what happens. We will see about my future but I am still an Arsenal player for the moment.”

And speaking on Arsenal's acquisition of compatriot, Lacazette,
Giroud added: “It’s always nice for the club to get several strikers with different qualities and it is always nice for competition and it helps you to step up every time.

“I really enjoyed all my time at the Arsenal and I scored a few nice goals but always like to speak about the team, the team spirit and the team work.”

RONALDO HOLIDAYS WITH HIS 'PREGNANT' GIRLFRIEND IN SPAIN. .

Cristiano Ronaldo's girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez kept her gorgeous summer bod under wraps as the pair soaked up the sunshine on the Spanish sands, reports The Mirror Sport.

Georgina opted for a plunging v-necked blinding white crocheted cover-up for her stroll, reigniting the pregnancy rumours which have surrounded the glamorous couple for months.

And, in a rare show of chivalry between the two, her super-stud striker lover was spotted guiding his girlfriend through the rocky beach area in Formentera, near Ibiza, Spain.

Football looked the furthest thing from Ronaldo's mind as he spent a day on the beach with his burly entourage.

Opting for a matching candy red cap and shorts the hot footballer carefully picked his way across the sand with his girlfriend, who appeared to be encouraging baby rumours recently, by cradling her tum as the crew relaxed on a luxury yaucht.

Ronaldo was was allowed to miss Portugal's third place play-off win at the Confederations Cup.

DANI ALVES ARRIVES IN PARIS FOR MEDICALS WITH PSG.

Dani Alves has snubbed Pep Guardiola and Manchester City to join Paris St Germain.

Alves, 34, was expected in Manchester this week to sign a two-year deal with City after negotiating his early release from his contract with Juventus .
But instead the Brazilian defender has flown to Paris to sign a two-year deal with PSG.

This is a huge blow to Guardiola who is now left with no recognized right back, given the exodus of Bacary Sagna and Pablo Zabeleta and left back Geal Clichy, at the end of last season.

Tottenham's Kyle Walker could be his saving grace, if the deal pulls through.

REAL MADRID'S JAMES RODRIGUEZ JOINS BAYERN MUNICH.

MICHAEL CARRICK BELIEVES LUKAKU WILL FIRE UNITED TO GLORY.

Michael Carrick has backed Romelu Lukaku to deliver on his £75million transfer fee. A fee which could rise to £90m.

United have begun their US pre-season tour ahead of Saturday’s opener against LA Galaxy, with Carrick excited at the goal threat Lukaku can bring to Mourinho’s side.

“I’ve tried to tackle him a few times and got nowhere near him, so at least I won’t have to do that too often,” said Carrick.

“Listen, you’ve seen what he can bring to us. He’s a big guy, he has got a big presence and he scores goals.

“That’s what we’re going to need from him, that’s what he’s going to bring, and I’m sure he’ll have a great time here.

“You don’t want to look to put everything on his shoulders, but that’s why he’s been brought here, to help at that end of the pitch, to score and create goals.

“As a team and as attacking players everybody needs to chip in to score goals and share the load a little bit, to take the pressure off the individuals.

“But of course, he’s going to be the main one we look to for scoring goals and I’m sure he will.”

Carrick signed a one-year contract extension in the summer and the veteran midfielder, who turns 36 at the end of July, is relishing the new campaign.

“My brother texted me last night and said it’s my 20th pre-season,” Carrick told MUTV. “It’s quite a lot.

“Coming out here, the first thing that strikes you is the heat – it’s incredibly hot.

“It’s a great set-up though, a terrific set-up, and we can have no excuses.

“We’re all looking forward to it. The first day is always exciting. We’ve all done little bits on holiday, but this is the real.

HOW LUKAKU AND POGBA BECAME BEST OF FRIENDS.

The bromance between Romelu Lukaku and Paul Pogba will continue at Manchester United next season.

Lukaku was officially confirmed a United player on Sunday, arriving in a £75million deal from Everton.

The switch will see the Belgian striker link up with close pal Pogba , with the pair recently enjoying a holiday together in the States.

The pair recently spoke with ESPN about their relationship and provided an insight into why they are such good friends.

HOW THEIR FRIENDSHIP BEGAN;
Lukaku revealed he knew about Pogba when he was 15 - although Pogba was aware of his new teammate earlier.

The Belgian striker admits he checked out the midfielder on YouTube after being told about him by his dad.

They finally met at Stamford Bridge when Chelsea played Manchester United and the bromance began.

"We were both in the stands and after the game we started speaking and exchanged numbers. We both knew the next year would be our year," Lukaku said.
Pogba added: "We kept in touch and he became one of my best friends outside the pitch."

THEY KNEW THEY WOULD PLAY TOGETHER SOMEDAY;
Both players claim they knew they would eventually link up on the pitch.

"We knew it would happen one day. I didn't know when and where but now it is happening," Pogba said.

Lukaku adds: "I always said, when we were younger, there would be a day that we play together and compete for trophies.
"Now the moment has arrived. It is nice to play with one of your best friends."

WHAT THEY COULD TAKE FROM EACH OTHER'S GAME;
Pogba reveals he would love to have Lukaku's power while the striker wishes he had his pals artistry and vision.

But the big revelation is the Belgian's ability to eat burgers!
He claims he could eat two Big Macs when he was just two years old.

"No lie, I was a big boy! When I was like six months, I was the size of an 18 month old child." he admits.

ROWS OVER BASKETBALL
AND FALLOUTS;
Pogba said: "We played with teammates, not 1vs1. When we played 1vs1...

"You beat me - but basketball is a team sport. I don't like to lose but I cannot always win," Lukaku adds.

The pair go on to admit they have refused to shake each other's hands due to the game!

MAKING MUSIC;
Away from the field, the duo have been making music.
“He [Pogba] raps," says Lukaku. "He’s got boss. (I like) Hip hop. I like, sometimes, because I will pick the beats, he knows I DJ my house, so I’ll pick the beat, and then he spits.”
“He picks the beats. I pick the lyrics," adds Pogba.

"Sometimes we are just at the house for two hours straight, just for fun," Lukaku said.

"It stays just between us. We don't tell people and put it out there. When we are at home, we like to relax as much as we can."

RETIREMENT PLANS;
"He would be the coach, I would be the assistant," Pogba said.

"He is very good at analysing things. When I was playing last year, he would come to my house and tell me 'No Paul, you should have done this...'.
