Former Manchester United's player, Owen hargreaves have urged Mourinho to play his £89m star midfielder alongside veteran Michael Carrick.

The 35-year-old pundit says: "The player closest to Pirlo is Carrick that he had at Juventus when he was at his best."

He explains that Jose Mourinho has been giving the other United midfielders game time alongside the club's record-signing.

And it seems that on Thursday Carrick did not disappoint as he stepped up to assist the Frenchman effectively, helping him to two goals on the night.
