'I'M COMING HOME'...VAN PERSIE DECLARES AHEAD OF EUROPA CLASH.

Robin Van Persie admits his return to Old Trafford on Thursday night is a "special" moment in his career..

The striker is back at Manchester United for the first time since his £3.84million switch in July 2015 and says in as much he loves United, his focus is on helping Fenerbahce win the Europa League group match.

"It will be a special occasion and a special game for me, declared Van Persie who scored 58goals in 105 appearances for United.

"I know Manchester United want to be in the Champions League, but it's how it is now and for me it is a very special group in the Europa League [his first club, Holland's Feyenoord, are also in the section].

"I'm now playing for Fenerbahce and I want to do well for my team, but of course it will be special to play 'at home' in a great stadium with great fans against a great team.

"It will be tough for us. United are the favourites, but you never know what will happen."

Manchester United's boss Jose Mourinho spoke ahead of the game.

"We were able to play different matches. "For example Stoke was one match plan, Liverpool was a different one.

"The players are fine, especially because of the atmosphere we have, the belief.

"The players are good friends, not just players. Now we have a special, difficult week. Monday, Thursday, Sunday - Liverpool, Fenerbahce, Chelsea is a difficult week.
"But that is what we have and we have to be ready."

On Rooney's likelihood of starting the match, the Special one said,
"Wayne is working well,"He is one with a big responsibility for the atmosphere because he's positive and is a good example."
