MOURINHO VERY IMPRESSED WITH JONES

Phil Jones has looked assured in the heart of Manchester United's defence alongside Marcos Rojo in recent weeks, in the absence of Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling.
Mourinho said: "They are playing better than ever and now we have a third centre half to rotate.

"With Bailly (who has returned from injury) we have a third central defender and hopefully we can manage with those three until the end of the year.”

The Portuguese boss has reserved special praise for Jones, who has stepped up to the plate in the absence of Bailly and Chris Smalling.

"Even with me he had an injury that stopped him for a long time but he worked with people he trusts," Mourinho added.

"Jones worked with one of my guys; Carlos Lalin and he has had a really big improvement in his physical condition.

"He is now looking big, strong and athletic, I have seen a big development in his condition, the same with Rojo.

"Jones has played 6 matches, 6 matches Phil Jones? I don't remember when he did that.
"In a period without Bailly and Smalling when people could be scared, they both stepped up and played well and solid."
