MOURINHO SPEAKS ON THE FUTURE OF STAR DUO; DE GEA AND IBRAHIMOVIC AS MADRID MOVE LOOMS.
Jose Mourinho is confident Real Madrid will not embark on another 'dirty tricks' campaign to sign David De Gea according to The Mirror.
Bernabeu president Florentino Perez claimed someone at Manchester United is “messing around” with keeper De Gea, with his European champions poised to make a fresh move after failing to land the player 18 months ago.
De Gea's £29million transfer to Real collapsed acrimoniously on deadline day in summer 2015, with the player signing a lucrative new four-year deal in the immediate aftermath.
Perez's latest remarks are seen as the start of a campaign by Real to unsettle De Gea and turn his head, ahead of a potential summer bid to take him home to Spain.
But Mourinho — a former Real Madrid boss — reacted to Perez's latest comments by claiming the Real president needs to speak directly with him if they are serious about trying to sign the 26-year-old.
''With Mr Perez and his right arm, Jose Angel Sanchez, they are some of the people in football that I can say I didn't work for them and then it's over,” said Mourinho.
''I can say that we're friends forever, big friends, I like them a lot. Friends speak, friends are open, friends are honest.
“So if, at the end of the season, I want one of their players or they want one of our players, we will not do it through the Press to exchange messages. We will be very direct.
So they are one of the clubs I'm not worried about at all.
''I have nothing to say, because I'm not going to speak about hypothetical things.
“The only thing that is real is that he's my player, I'm happy with him, I know he's happy with me and there's noting else, absolutely nothing else.”
Mourinho is also adamant top scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic will sign a contract extension that will keep him at United for next season.
Ibrahimovic, who has 20 goals this season, signed a one-year deal last summer with the option of a further 12 months, which Mourinho is convinced he will sign.
"I'm totally convinced he is going to stay," said Mourinho.
''He's adapted to the club, to the situation and I don't see any problem with his family.
I gave him the possibility of a day off to go to Sweden, but he doesn't want to go, so I'm totally convinced he is going to stay''.
