"FERGIE WAS THE BEST THOUGH HE MADE SOME PLAYERS CRY"; ROONEY REVEALS IN AN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW.

In an exclusive interview with talkSPORT, Rooney gave a whole host of new revelations about his time with Manchester United and England.

1. Sir Alex Ferguson actually made some players cry with his infamous hairdyers:

"Fergie was the best. He never complicated anything.
"Nowadays sometimes there is a bit too much information and a bit too much thought going into it.

Sometimes you just need a 'we're better than you' moment. He had the balance right. His man management was second to none.

He knew the players he could have a go at and the players to put his arm round.

"I've seen players in the dressing room at half time with tears running down their face because a manager has had a go at them and they can't take it."

2. Rooney and Ryan Giggs got more abuse from Fergie than other players:

"I've been there myself where Alex Ferguson has had a go at me. It gives me that lift and makes you want it more."

"Me and Giggs were the two players he had a go at most but I think he knew that when he had a go we were the two who had the character to go out and improve on the performance."

3. When Fergie was manager, Man United players under 25 were not allowed to have sports cars:

"When Alex Ferguson was there, if you were under 25 then you couldn't have a sports car.

"It is little things like that to have that discipline which the older players can help with."

4. Paul Scholes is the best player Rooney ever played with:

"Scholesy is the probably the best I have played with.

"He was the one player that had that game management and mind which would have allowed him to play anywhere.

He was that good. If England had used him a bit more in the right position then he would have influenced a lot more games for us."

5. Louis van Gaal made Man United players watch their own training sessions:

"The club missed Fergie, the character he gave around the whole place.

As players we knew when he left there was a massive change, which obviously showed.

They are going in the right direction now.
"I was pleased he won the FA Cup because he got a lot of stick, but I believe if he had stayed then he would have got better. He had all the small details, not just on the pitch.

"The one thing he did was kept the standard with the players and got the best out of you every day.

He filmed training sessions and we sat back and watched them. He was tough in that aspect."

6. Fabio Capello cheered Italy goals… while he was managing England at the 2010 World Cup:

"His English wasn't great and it didn't feel right.
"He brought in his Italian backroom staff. I remember out in the World Cup in South Africa, Fabio and his coaches were watching England play and were cheering when Italy scored. He was there as England manager. I don't think it was right."

7. Rooney thinks England would have won Euro 2004 if he hadn't got injured:

"If I had stayed fit, I think we would have gone on to win the tournament.

"It was disappointing for me personally getting injured and for the country.

We were building momentum and I believe we would have won it."
