MBAPPE AND RASHFORD AMONG THE NOMINEES FOR THE GOLDEN BOY AWARD.

Manchester United striker, Marcus Rashford joins the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele among the 25 contenders for the 2017 prestigious Golden Boy award for Europe's best young player. The award is run by Italian newspaper Tuttosport.

Rashford finished second 12 months ago, behind Bayern Munich’s on-loan Swansea midfielder Renato Sanches.

The England forward, 19, played his part in United's League Cup and Europa League successes last term, scoring crucial goals in both the quarter and semi-final of European football's secondary competition. He has already scored three goals in seven games so far this season.

Mbappe, the French wizkid who traded Monaco for PSG in the summer in a deal that is set to eventually cost Les Parisiens £160million, is considered favourite for the award having exploded onto the European scene in 2016-17.

The 18-year-old emerged as a crucial player for Leonardo Jardim's side as they beat PSG to the French title, and shocked Europe as ASM reached the Champions League semi-finals.

Overall, he scored 26 goals in 44 games, earning his summer switch to the Parc des Princes.
