HOW A STICK OF CIGARETTE AND CUP OF WHISKY DENIED ADEBAYOR A MOVE TO LYON IN THE SUMMER

Former Tottenham Striker Emmanuel Sheyi Adebayor held talks with Lyon when his Crystal Palace's contract expired in the summer.

 The Togolese striker met with Lyon coach Bruno Genesio for talks earlier this month. 
The former Arsenal striker later blasted the French side amidst reports that he refused to pull out of the African Cup of nations in January.

However, Genesio have revealed the real reason why Adebayor is not playing for them today.

Genesio said, "We had a place in our squad for Manu, so I arranged to meet him for a coffee in Lyon. "But to my suprise, when he arrived, he asked for a shot of whisky in his coffee. "He also had a cigarette hanging out of his mouth.

Genesio added, "the interview began badly, before he decided not to pursue the move for the Ex-Tottenham, Manchester City and Monaco Striker.
"What followed confirmed my first impression that there was no room for him at the Club", Genesio is quoted as saying by THE SUN.

Adebayor is without a club since he was allowed to leave Crystal Palace following the expiration of his short contract in the summer.
