Manchester City midfielder Gundogan has slammed Mourinho's treatment of his compatriot -Bastian Schweinsteiger at Manchester United..
Schweinsteiger was signed by former United boss Louis Van Gaal last season but couldn't play much games for the red devils due to injuries.
However the arrival of Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford has significantly brought the German's United career to a halt.
Despite being registered for this season's Premier League, the World Cup winner has not played a minute yet for Mourinho's side.
"If everything you hear and read is true, you can consider it disrespectful, Gundogan said. "He's not just some player and also not only 18 or 19. "I believe that Manchester United could 100% benefit from a fit Bastian Schweinsteiger".
On filling the void left by Schweinsteiger's international retirement, Gundogan said, "I trusted myself to do that before (Schweinsteiger's retirement), but this has nothing to do with saying his retirement is positive or negative.
"We should be thankful that we had such a great player, Gundogan added.
