I'M NO LONGER GUARANTEED A STARTING PLACE... WAYNE ROONEY.

Wayne Rooney concedes his name is no longer first on the England team sheet after Slovenia sacking.

Gareth Southgate confirmed Rooney will be on the bench on Tuesday night in Slovenia for "tactical" reasons.

As Wayne Rooney handed the England captaincy over to Jordan Henderson, temporarily he accepted his place in the line-up is no longer guaranteed.

Gareth Southgate confirmed Rooney, 30, will be on the bench on Tuesday night in Slovenia for "tactical" reasons.

However, Rooney knows the days when leaving him out of any formation would have been unheared of are long gone.
"I've played 13 years non-stop for England - a time comes where you’re not the first name on the team sheet," he said.
Rooney boldly volunteered to sit beside the national team boss at tonight's press conference in Ljubljana and was eager to reaffirm his commitment to England.
"No not at all," he said when asked about whether he was close to calling time on his international career.

"I’ve said before if selected I’m available. I love playing for my country.

"I made my plans clear, those plans won’t change.
Southgate said leaving Rooney out was "straight forward".
"We've looked at Slovenia and how they play and when I looked at them I looked at what we needed for this game.

"It's no reflection on Wayne and how he played on Saturday. He played very well showed good tactical discipline."

Jose Mourinho started this drama. Let's see what the future holds for our dear Rooney.
