MAN. UTD'S SQUAD TO FACE BASEL IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE.

Ashley Young is in contention to return for Manchester United for the first time since suffering a groin injury in May during United's semi-final second leg clash against Celta Vigo.

According to Manchester United evening news, Luke Shaw trained with the United first-team on Monday afternoon but was not among the squad which checked in at their pre-match base - Lowry hotel.

Eric Bailly and Phil Jones serve the last match of their European suspensions against Basel.

Marouane Fellaini was deemed fit to train after overcoming a calf injury which prevented him from figuring in the Premier League draw at Stoke.

"Let's see if he can train today," Jose Mourinho said earlier on Monday. "He's a very important player for me, much more important than you can imagine.

He had a [calf] problem with his national team and then he played a match against Greece, and after the match he felt the problem.

"If his condition improves he will be selected, because I need him."
