PLATEAU UNITED ARE THE NEW CHAMPIONS OF THE NIGERIA FOOTBALL LEAGUE.

Plateau United have been crowned the new champions of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) interestingly for the first time ever subsequent to beating Enugu Rangers 2-0 on Saturday evening at the Rwang Pam Stadium in Jos.

The Kennedy Boboye led side led on the league table for a long stretch of the season with MFM FC nearly trailing with a point up to the last day of the season. The Saturday fixture was set for a troubled finish to the league with eyes on Maiduguri where MFM FC played El-Kanemi Warriors and Jos where Plateau United hosted Enugu Rangers.

The Peace Boys from Jos, first-time winners of the NPFL, were able to beat the incumbent champions Enugu Rangers 2-0 on Saturday with goals from Emeka Umeh and Benjamin Turba.

The Jos team needed the win to keep off the trailing MFM who are leading by just a single point and any slip would have gifted the Olukoya Boys the trophy.

Be that as it may, MFM, then again, were given a 1-2 crush by Laddan Bosso-led El Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri in the Match Day 38 game.
