Frank de Boer was this morning sacked as Crystal Palace boss - and Roy Hodgson is set to be installed.
Mirror Sport understands Hodgson has been offered the job on a two-year deal and is set to take charge after having initial talks with Palace chairman Steve Parish.
Former England boss Hodgson, is keen to return to management 14 months after quitting on England following the Euros humiliation to Iceland.
Hodgson is set to be announced on Tuesday.
De Boer was hopeful of avoiding the axe after Palace's defeat at Burnley but Parish acted quickly with the club in crisis.
The Eagles said in a statement: "Crystal Palace Football Club have this morning parted company with Frank de Boer.
"We would like to thank Frank for his dedication and hard work during his time at the Club.
"A new manager will be appointed in due course and we wish Frank the very best of luck for the future. There will be no further comment at this time."
Palace's season began ominously with a 3-0 home defeat by newly-promoted Huddersfield.
A 1-0 defeat at Liverpool followed before Swansea left Selhurst Park with all three points at the end of last month.
After the defeat on Sunday, De Boer had refused to walk away.
He said: "I am just focusing on what I can control and so are my staff and my players. (The future) is for other people to decide but while I'm the manager of Crystal Palace I will give 100 per cent.
"We have to reward ourselves and we didn't do that today. I am disappointed about the result but I am not disappointed about how we played.
"I think this is the starting point, because usually if you create that many chances against any opponent you will get what you deserve, and today we didn't.
"But we have to look in the mirror and be responsible that you have to take the chances, and you get punished when you don't.
"But if you look all over at how we showed spirit, I think we were quite dynamic.
What we showed today gives us a lot of hope for the future."
Frank de Boer won 112 caps for the Netherlands and played for Ajax, Barcelona, Galatasaray and Rangers as a player.
