Arsenal's youngstar, Alex Iwobi has no intention of leaving Arsenal for Barcelona as he looks to continue his development in North London. That's the view of his father, Chuka.
Iwobi has been with the Gunners since the age of six, and has emerged as a first-team regular for Arsene Wenger's men this term.
But despite being under contract until 2020, recent speculation has suggested that Spanish giants - Barcelona are monitoring his progress.
Iwobi's father spoke to AfricanFootball.com. "At this point in time, he is at the right place. He’s doing well at Arsenal, but should any club come for him now, the answer would certainly be NO.
“For him now, it’s not about the money. So, should a club like Barcelona come with more money, he will certainly stay back at Arsenal because now it is not about him making money, it’s about him concentrating on his career, progressing and going on to the next stage.”
The 20-year old has missed just two premier League matches this season due to injury, and has made 14 appearances for the Gunners.
The versatile forward has also made the step up at international level with Nigeria, scoring in their recent win against Zambia in a World Cup qualifier, however, Mr. Chuka says that there is no chance complacency will set in any time soon.
“He has broken into the first team and what they all talk about is his humility. Personally, that’s very important because when a player starts getting arrogant that’s when the player fails. “I see him being with Arsenal for very many, many years.”
Iwobi starred in Nigeria's 3-1 victory over Algeria in a World Cup qualifier on Saturday. The Super Eagles sit on top of Group B with six points from two matches, having won their first game of the qualifier in Zambia.
