REAL MADRID AND MAN CITY ON ALERT AS DORTMUND SANCTIONS AUBAMEYANG.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was suspended by Borussia Dortmund following an unsanctioned trip to Italy on Monday.

Aubameyang, the Gabonese was jettisoned by Borussia Dortmund Coach Thomas Tuchel from their Champions League squad on Wednesday night for what the club described only as "internal reasons".

The club's leading scorer with 10 goals in thirteen games watched Dortmund's 1-0 win over Sporting Lisbon from the stands.

Speaking after the victory, Tuchel said of the 27-year old's absence: "It was very difficult to do without him.

"But it was that I had no choice. The decision was made yesterday [Tuesday] afternoon. In the next game, he will be back.

"But, internal reasons means internal. I do not account for speculation."
The striker will return to the squad for the Bundesliga clash with Hamburg at the weekend, CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke confirmed.

"The internal reasons are exactly that, internal," Watzke said. "I will not say anything. But the good thing is he will be fresh against Hamburg. He will be back in the squad against Hamburg."

Rumours have it that the decision which was made on Tuesday, was because Aubameyang used his phone during a team meeting.

But instead, the player was reprimanded in front of his teammates after flying to Italy on Monday.

The striker, headed to a party with friends at the Hotel Villa Borghi in Varese.

And after arriving late for a team meeting on Tuesday morning, he was told that he would play no part against Sporting and that while he must attend the game, he wasn't required professionally until Thursday training, ahead of the weekend trip to HSV.

He attended and watched from the stands as Dortmund held on against Sporting to move top of Group F and qualify for  the knockout stages as the game ended 1-0 in favour of the German team.

Aubameyang scored 39 goals in all competitions for BVB last season and the Africa footballer of the year have attracted interest from the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester City. The recent event could as well suit his potential suitors.

However, CEO Watzke recently stated that he has no time to discuss speculation over the striker's future.
“It’s all speculation. I’m unwilling to enter into it. Auba has a contract until 2020."

Time will tell.
