CONTE AIMS A JIBE AT MOURINHO.

Manchester United boss Mourinho has not seen eye-to-eye with Conte since the Italian was appointed at Chelsea last summer.

The pair clashed on the touchline during United's trips to Stamford Bridge in both the league and the cup last season, report the Manchester Evening News.

Ahead of the start of the season, Conte reopened those wounds by publicly warning his side to 'avoid a Mourinho season' after winning the title.

Mourinho was sacked just seven months after winning his third title with Chelsea in his second spell at the club.

At the time, Chelsea were languishing in 16th place in the league - just one point above the relegation zone.

And Conte could not resist referencing those final months of Mourinho's reign as he plotted Chelsea's title defence.

"It’s a very important period for us because we are working very hard," he said earlier this week.

"We are very tired because we played three games with the same players.

"We know it will be difficult next season. We want to try to avoid a Mourinho season.

Two years ago the team ended the league in 10th place and we want to try to avoid this."

And, following United's 3-0 win over Valerenga, Mourinho hit back with an unsubtle dig.

"I don't know, I could answer in many different ways," he mused in his post-match press conference.

"I'm not going to lose my hair to speak about Antonio Conte."
