RONALDO FINALLY SPEAKS ON TAX EVASION CHARGES.

Cristiano Ronaldo maintains he has never evaded tax after appearing in court in Madrid.

The Real Madrid superstar is accused of evading £13.1m (€14.7m) in tax since 2010.

Spanish prosecutors allege Ronaldo hid income from his image rights from tax authorities.

He spoke in court in the Madrid suburb of Pozuelo de Alcaron for around 90 minutes but refused to speak to the waiting media outside.

A statement was issued on his behalf, with Ronaldo insisting: "I've never hidden my tax declarations and never had any intentions to evade paying."

"The Spanish Treasury knows my entire income. Those who know me know I ask my advisors to keep everything up to date."

Ronaldo went on to confirm he has kept the same structure for his image rights at Real Madrid from his time at Manchester United.

"It is time to let the justice system work. I hope there is a fair decision.

In order to avoid unnecessary pressures, I have decided that I will not comment on the matter further until a decision is reached."
