Jose Mourinho's Red Devils arrived Old Trafford on the 31st day of October 2016; it was not for a Monday night Premier League match; No! it was for the 17th annual United for UNICEF Gala Dinner.
The club raised a total of £215,000 for the leading children's charity, just shy of last year's record £230,000 as players donated generously.
A lot of big ticket items were up for auction. Among the items were a day out with the entire United side and ''The Mourinho Collection'', donated by the Special One including his signed, worn adidas hoodie, training top and the scarf he was photographed with at his unveiling - the haul was sold for a top bid of £30,000.
The Portuguese also donated his wrist watch worth £16,000.
Money raised from the night goes to UNICEF's work to support education programmes for children in Thailand with limited or no access to qualitative education.
“Charity is one of the amazing things in society and I have always been very supportive of Unicef," Mourinho said of the event. "You know that the money is going to the right place and is going to make a big difference.
"Tonight the money is going to help children in Thailand so we know that we are going to contribute to a better future – I think it is difficult to have a better feeling than that, Mourinho added.
Dutch defender, Daley Blind said "it’s so important for kids to have an education, so it’s great to be here as a team and raise as much money as we can to help the children in Thailand have a good future."
"I think everybody enjoys doing charity events like this; making the children happy makes us happy, so it’s a good thing.
United's youngster, Marcus Rashford who turned 19 on the day had earlier spent part of his milestone with other players meeting sick children as part of the MU Foundations' Dream Day, after their morning training session at their Carrington base.
Exiled German Midfielder, who returned to training on Monday was among the stars who donned the occasion.
