MOURINHO CHARGED FOR MISCONDUCT, AND COULD FACE STADIUM BAN.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has been charged today with misconduct by the English FA after Mark Clattenburg clash during a Premier League game on Saturday.

The Portuguese has until 6pm on Friday to respond to the fresh charge, after his clash with the official in the Old Trafford tunnel.

It leaves Mourinho facing a potential touchline ban after the incident which saw him sent to the stands at half time during United's 0-0 draw with Burnley at Old Trafford.

The Football Association issued the charge today with the accusation that “he used abusive and/or insulting words towards a Match Official.”

The FA statement read: "Jose Mourinho has been charged with misconduct following Manchester United’s game against Burnley on Saturday [29 October 2016].

''It is alleged that in or around the tunnel area at half time he used abusive and/or insulting words towards a Match Official.

He has until 6pm on 4 November 2016 to respond to the charge."
The standard punishment is a one game touchline ban but it is understood that if behaviour is over and above then it can result in a longer ban or even a complete stadium ban.

Mourinho was banned for Chelsea’s game at Stoke after confronting referee -Jon Moss in a game at West Ham at half time last season.

Mourinho is already awaiting punishment for comments he made about referee - Anthony Taylor, ahead of United's against  Liverpool at Anfield in October.

The FA gave Mourinho until October 31st (yesterday) to respond and his punishment will be decided by a commission soon.
