CARRAGHER HAS DESCRIBED A MAN UTD PLAYER AS "THE BEST" IN THE WORLD.

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has described a Manchester United player as the "best in the world" at their position.

The former centre back was talking to United great - Peter Schmeichel on Monday Night Football when talk about goalkeepers took center stage.

United No.1 David De Gea has in the last two seasons been voted Premier League's best goalkeeper; and considering his exceptional form so far this season, he could yet win it for the third consecutive times.

Having conceded just twice in the league this season, the Spaniard pulled off yet a sensational save during Saturday's game to deny Liverpool the win and Carragher described the 27-year old as the second best ever in the league.

"I think he is the best goalkeeper in the world," said Carragher. "Peter is the greatest Premier League goalkeeper but De Gea is second.

"We have had some greats, [David] Seaman, [Petr] Cech but he is that good."

Schmeichel, who watched his son's Leicester side draw 1-1 with West Brom on Monday, echoed Carragher's sentiments and added that goalkeepers do not get the credit they so often deserve.

"We talk about goals being scored in the top corner and overhead kicks, this is the same thing," said the Dane.

"This ball is in all the way. It's like he is flying, his feet aren't even touching the ground.

"To win the title, you need your keeper to save you 12-15 points.

"If you look through the history of the Premier League, you have to No matter how good you are, you will concede chances but there are difficult games.
