MANCHESTER UNITED BAN PAUL POGBA.

Manchester United have reportedly banned Paul Pogba from playing basketball amid fears over detrimental effects on his fitness and body.

The Frenchman is currently sidelined with a hamstring problem he picked up during the win over Basel earlier this month.

Jose Mourinho has admitted the injury is a long-term one with Pogba unlikely to return for around six weeks.

And according to the Sun, United's medical staff believe basketball is impacting the player's fitness and could lead to muscle strain or knee and ankle problems.

There are even suggestions Pogba's determination to take to the court may have contributed to his hamstring injury.

It is also reported there are concerns over Pogba's determination to use a personal trainer and his fitness regime.

The 24-year-old is a huge NBA fan and has regularly been pictured shooting hoops in the past, particularly with teammate Romelu Lukaku last summer.

Pogba also uploaded a clip of him in action with Philadelphia star Joel Embiid during the off-season.
