RASHFORD NOT YET AT THE LEVEL OF MBAPPE AND DEMBELE, SAYS UNITED'S LEGEND.

Rio Ferdinand says Marcus Rashford can become a world-beater — but still has to prove himself at the highest level.

Former Manchester United defender turned pundit Ferdinand is convinced Old Trafford starlet Rashford has what it takes to become just as good as fellow teen sensation Kylian Mbappe and emerge as one of the world’s best players in the coming years.

But Rashford, who has five goals so far this season and has made himself a regular under Jose Mourinho, must show he can deliver in the Champions League as well as the Premier League, according to Ferdinand.

Rashford will surely be a key man on Saturday, when United travel to arch-rivals Liverpool for the Premier League's game of the weekend, and Ferdinand reckons the 19-year-old forward now has the world at his feet.
“He’s a great talent and he’s doing well,” said Ferdinand.

“He looks like he’s maturing. He’s improving, he’s hungry and he’s getting opportunities this season.
“He’s somebody who can be a huge talent for United and England — and he’s at the right place to do that.

“He’s got the backing of the manager, the backing of the fans and the confidence of the players, and the more I see him, the more he’s bringing new things to his game and adding to it.

“You’ve got Ousmane Dembele who’s gone to Barcelona and Mbappe, who’s gone to PSG. Would you say Rashford is of the same ilk as them?

“I think potentially he’s as good as those guys, but they’ve done it in the Champions League, while he’s yet to prove that.

“But I don’t think Marcus is silly.
“He knows he’s not the finished article and will keep working hard at his game.

“He has to keep proving himself, and there are so many hurdles you have to get over.

These young players, we’re too quick to say, 'He can be this or that’.
“If he keeps improving, keeps working at his game and stays in love with football, he’s got as good a chance as any kid in the game to be a real success and a huge star.”

Rashford has already clocked up 472 minutes in the Premier League this season and started both of England’s World Cup ties against Slovenia and Lithuania in the international break.

Even though Anthony Martial, whom Rashford is keeping out of the United side this season, was not picked for France and is therefore fresh, the England star is expected to start at Anfield.
