WENGER ADMITS SANCHEZ AND OZIL COULD LEAVE ARSENAL IN JANUARY.

Arsene Wenger has admitted Arsenal could sell Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil in January.

Sanchez and Ozil who are in the final year of their contracts have refused to extend their deals with the North London club and the Gunners hierarchy could cash in by January or risk loosing them for nothing in the summer.

It is understood that Manchester City are still desperate to sign Sanchez after failing with a deadline day bid in August while Wenger admitted that Arsenal are not close to reaching an agreement with Ozil whose situation  is reportedly being monitored closely by Manchester United and Inter Milan.

Wenger admitted a January sale is something Arsenal may have to consider.

“Once you are in our kind of situation we have envisaged every kind of solution yes,” said Wenger. “Yes, it’s possible.”

When asked whether Arsenal have set a deadline on their contract negotiations, Wenger added: “No not at the moment.”
Wenger insisted that they have not given up on keeping Ozil.

Ozil’s agent has claimed the Germany midfielder wants to stay in the Premier League and Wenger said: “That’s my understanding, yes.

“I always said that the fact that we didn’t find an agreement last year doesn’t mean the player will necessarily leave.

Both players look happy here and overall I hope that the situation can be turned around. But at the moment, we are not close enough to announce anything.”

Wenger also clearly has fears over whether Sanchez will be fit to face Watford on Saturday as the injury doubts mount up.

Shkodran Mustafi has been ruled out for up to six weeks with his thigh injury, Sead Kolasinac is a doubt with a hip problem while Laurent Koscielny will have a late fitness test.

Sanchez is expected back in the UK on Thursday after being away on international duty with Chile which saw his nation crash out of the World Cup.

Wenger said: “I believe that he (Sanchez), like Aaron Ramsey, are winners.

“They want to focus on winning things and overall I believe that the World Cup is a stimulant - I don’t deny that - but when you don’t have it, you focus on your club and what you can achieve with your club.”

Wenger believes that midfielder, Jack Wilshere will be selected for the national team for the World Cup given his improved form.

“I believe that Jack at the moment is in the best form I’ve seen him in for a long time. He’s very close now to being considered like anybody else.

“Overall I believe he doesn’t necessarily have to leave Arsenal to reach the World Cup.

If he keeps going like he’s going at the moment, he will go to the World Cup, I’m sure. I don’t see Jack being fully fit and not going to the World Cup.

And speaking about Arsenal's game against Liverpool which is slated for the Christmas Eve, Wenger said:

“Yes I know that we have to adapt to the schedule dictated by the televisions, but overall I would say if that happens personally I think it should not, not any game should be played after 2 o’clock latest on Christmas Eve on the 24th because Christmas Day in England is 25, but on the 24th I would say if we had to play we should not play after 2 o’clock.

“Personally I would prefer to be at my home on Christmas night and celebrate Christmas, but I still feel that could happen if we played early on the day and what you wouldn’t like to sacrifice is the evening with the family for people, but overall we go towards society religion isn’t considered anymore in any decision and where people want as well to watch football in the Christmas period.”
