REAL MADRID PRESIDENT BREAKS SILENCE ON KANE SPECULATIONS.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has broken his silence over Los Blancos' alleged interest in Tottenham striker Harry Kane.

England forward Kane impressed as Spurs drew in the Bernabeu last week, heightening speculation that Real could make a move for his services next summer.

Kane has established himself as one of the world's premier strikers over the last three seasons, netting 31 times in 2014-15, 29 times in 2015-16 and 35 times last term. In this calendar year, he has scored 47 goals.

He already has 13 goals from 12 appearances this season, but Perez insists that Los Blancos have enough firepower in attack.

"Signing Harry Kane has not passed through my head. He is a great player and in addition he is young," Perez told Cadena COPE.

"He has many years to progress, but we are delighted with [Karim] Benzema and with all of the team.

"I didn’t ask Tottenham’s president for the price because he would have told me that he is worth €250m."

Meanwhile, after inspiring Tottenham to a 4-1 win against Liverpool on Sunday, Kane said that he'll like to emulate Real Madrid superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo by scoring as many goals and matching the Portuguese' performances.

“I’ve told you before, at some stage I want to be the best player in the world and to do that you have to be up there with these players, Kane said.

They set the standards, Ronaldo and [Leo] Messi, so for the rest of us it’s about trying to catch them and get up there. The numbers are good but for me, it’s more important to be winning these big games against big teams.

It shows we are coming together as a team and getting better. That’s the most important thing. We will see where we finish at the end of the year but it’s always my aim to be up there with the very best.”

Tottenham take on Real Madrid in the return fixture at Wembley next week after their Carabao Cup clash against West Ham on Wednesday evening and trip to Manchester United at the weekend.
